A colourful 20th-century oil on canvas depicting an urban street scene by Swedish artist, Hans Arvid Ripa (1912-2001).
Ripa studied at several schools including the Skåne School of Painting in Malmö, the Maison Watteau, the Académie Colarossi in Paris, and the Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He was primarily known as a theatre painter but also enjoyed creating vibrant landscapes, still life and scenes.
During his lifetime, his work was exhibited in New York, Nice and Paris. And he’s currently represented at various museums including the Landskrona and the Tomelilla.
The painting is signed in the lower right and housed within a frame that’s probably its original.
