A wonderfully vibrant still life with flowers by Swedish artist, Kurt Törnqvist (1921-2008).

Following a trip to Paris, Törnqvist became heavily influenced by the bold brushwork of the post-impressionists. In this particular piece, he’s used a broad brush to confidently lay the paint on - building it up in areas. He’s combined this with a saturated palette that reminds us a little of Vincent.

Signed in the lower right and housed within a frame that’s probably its original.
