An enigmatic mid-20th-century portrait of a woman, probably a nurse, by Swedish artist, Reno Friberg (1920-2018).
Little is known about the artist but it’s interesting to consider why he painted this nurse during the Second World War. Between 10,000 and 20,000 Swedes fought in the War so perhaps he was convalescing in 1942 when this was painted.
There’s an unusual atmosphere with this piece - a sense of anxiety.
